Spent the morning on Back Bay with some friends from PA. We decided on a trip though the marshes just South of Horn Point, since it had been a while that I had been through there. The weather conditions were great, temps in the upper 70s with just a hint of a breeze out of the Southeast.
As we were paddling along discussing the types of birds that inhabit the area, I was explaining that the taller trees were where some of the birds of prey would nest, when off in the distance we saw two eagles in one of the taller pine trees. The eagles stayed in the tree long enough to get some halfway decent pictures.
Further down the channel in a pine were initially a dozen or so Great and Snowy Egrets roosting in a tree, initially all but one flew away into the marsh, but most returned a very short time later.
As we were paddling on the bay side I noticed a large dip net sticking up on one of the islands, I thought it was a bad idea for it to be there to possibly snag a bird or bat, so i removed it, and that was a pain in the rear.
