Once again it has been a year since I paddled Smiths Creek...
I don't know why, considering this was a location that I paddled a lot more in the past. The upper end of this creek is such a nice relaxing paddle with the twists and turns gradually opening up into a broad waterway.
I am a little bummed that I missed all the Iris's here this year, and all the spring and summer flowers are all gone. There appeared to be a lot of activity under the water, with fish swimming off as I approached, as well as a lot of turtles sunning and poking their heads up for a quick breath of fresh air.
As I approached the Northwest River I remembered why I don't spend a lot of time here in the summer, lots of power boats pulling skiers. Probably would of spent more time on the creek, had the water level been just a little higher.
