It has been 6 weeks since my last trip, and that is way too long. The reasons are varied, and mostly bad, lets just say it has been a real tough time for me, and leave it at that.
I decided on Pungo Ferry Road, and the North Landing River, because I was not sure what the water levels would be like anywhere else (Note in the pictures that the USGS monitoring station no longer has the solar array, nor the satellite uplink), because of the strong North winds we have had for the past couple days. The water level looks like I would have been ok at most places.
When I got to the launch I noted that the wind was light and out of the South, so I thought about heading South, and having the wind at my back on the return, but I decided to go North, because I like that part of the river more.
The fall color is about as peaked as it is going to get, there are some areas that are pretty vibrant, but I think due to the weather conditions, the color will be short lived.
Once again, I hope to be able to get out on the water more often now, I think things are starting to settle down (Famous Last Words)
