Great day, a little windy, but still a great day to be on the water, so I did the North Bay loop, which is one of those trips, that requires no backtracking. The only time I do this is when I can get the kayak under the bridge, because I am not going to carry my kayak across Sandbridge road, too many cars driving to fast.
The water level was a little on the low side, but not bad, and as you can see by the pictures, I did encounter a couple of toll takers at the bridge, at least 3 watersnakes hanging from the the bridge, good thing my kayak has easy pass so I used the express lane.
The wind kept me from taking some pictures, pushing the kayak in the direction of some nasty looking plants, so I just kept going. I did manage to get a few nice pictures of some wild roses, and a Blue Heron. The Herons usually fly away when you get within 20 to 30 yards, but I think this one felt I was less of a threat then trying to fly in the gusty winds, because I was within 10 feet as a passed, and was able to take a quick picture.
Hells creek, was pretty uneventful as usual, I am not a big fan of paddling in long straight ditches. The winds kept the majority of birds grounded, so I saw very few song birds along the way. About the only other item to note, is the expansion of the Lotus on Ashville Bridge Creek, the main patch has nearly covered the entire creek, and there is only a small channel on the east side of the creek to get the kayak through, hopefully we'll see a lot of flowers this year.
