This is a really nice park, but as a kayak launch facility it really misses the mark in my opinion. I guess it is the steep gravel road that turned me off. Then again maybe I am just lazy... You may want to consider the York River Park, just a few miles up the road.
I will verify this, but I have been informed that there is an alternative launch area downstream of the dock. As I understand it, you need to get a key from the office to access this area by car.
